We've created a new subdomain for you to access your client information and project statuses. This week I'm going to go over a little about what a subdomain is and how that differs from a regular website, as well as go over our new client subdomain.

What Is A SubDomain?
Learn what a subdomain is.
A subdomain is a way of dividing a primary domain into specific sections and creating separate sites. For example mail.yahoo.com is a subdomain of yahoo.com.

For those of you still confused as to what a domain or subdomain is, a domain is the name that identifies a website's address (such as www.YourName.com). A subdomain is really just adding some word or phrase to the beginning of that domain name, and when you navigate to it you see a different web page than you would with the global domain name.

What Can You Do With A Subdomain?
How a subdomain can help your existing website.
Since we now know that a subdomain is simply a division of our existing website we can use this to create specific niches within our site. By creating niches we make it easier to navigate to these areas. Now we only have to type in a subdomain's web address instead of a whole web page address or navigating through the site by clicking on a link from the main website's home page. A great example of this is the subdomain maps.google.com By going to this web address I've saved myself some time, rather than having to search through Google to find their maps web page.

Also a subdomain helps keep specific topics or areas of interest organized and separated out. Which makes it much easier for your website viewers. Now they can understand how to get to what they want quicker. But you don't want to go over board on it or it might actually make it more difficult to understand where your website's content has gone.

Our new subdomain was created to make it easier for our clients to gather information on their project and view statuses. Not to much has changed recently with the actual content or design it self but by creating the subdomain we have made it that much more easier to navigate there. In the future we are planing on going some updates to the actual content and design and we'll keep you posted as things roll out!
